This iOS application is tailored for professional users requiring precise, full-resolution depth maps obtained via the LiDAR scanner on supported iPhone and iPad devices. It addresses the inherent limitation of standard iOS libraries, which typically compress depth data into 8-bit images, thereby compromising accuracy. By directly accessing the raw depth information, the app enables users to capture and save depth maps with their original 32-bit floating-point precision.

The LiDAR scanner provides per-pixel depth data during image capture; however, conventional methods tend to scale this information down to 8-bit, resulting in significant detail loss. This application overcomes that constraint by extracting the unaltered depth data and exporting it as high-precision TIFF images encoded with 32-bit floating-point values. Each pixel in these images accurately represents the distance from the camera to a point in the scene, measured in meters.

For instance, a scene point located five meters from the camera will be represented by a pixel value of 5.0. Conversely, an object at 30 centimeters will correspond to a pixel value of 0.3, ensuring that the depth information remains precise and suitable for advanced spatial analysis or professional workflows.
